Scope of application

These European standards set forth properties, standards and testing procedures for laminate flooring.

The standards encompass a classification system that is based on EN 685. This system also spells out requirements for particular types of use classes and stress groups. This allows the consumer to make an informed choice. The standards also set forth requirements for labelling and packing.

The standards do not set forth any standards for spaces that are exceptionally damp (bathrooms, utility rooms and saunas). These norms, do however, apply to kitchens and living areas.

Normative references

The European norms contain information regarding other publications in the form of dated or undated references. These normative references are cited in the corresponding passages in the texts, with the publications indicated next to them. Subsequent changes in, and revisions of, dated normative references are part of these European norms only, in cases where they have been incorporated through changes or revisions. As far as undated references are concerned, the last revision of the publication named applies.
